The victory went to Team Baleària-RCN Palma, which is getting dangerously close to Dorsia-Covirán in the overall.
Excellent championship of Team Baleària, with a crew formed by María Bover, Miriam Oliva, Laura Martínez, Melania Henke and Lucia Busquets. The girls from the Real Club Náutico de Palma boasted good sailing and knowledge of the bay to chain ten firsts in the twelve races sailed, partials that crowned with a new victory in the Medal Race to proclaim themselves winners of the event.
Bover's team started today as leader with six points ahead of Club Nàutic Arenal, who were three points behind Dorsia-Covirán. In addition to yesterday's eight races, four more were added to decide the six crews that would go on to compete in the Medal Race. While the crew of the host club pointed unstoppable towards the final victory, the Dorsia-Covirán of Nuria Sánchez managed to beat the team of the host club led by Aina Colom, thus forming the first three places for the final. After them, the CN Arenal Power of Nicola Sadler, Bigboy Náutica-RCN Pto Pollença of Pilar Casares, and CN Altea of Gracias Suárez maintained their positions in the general classification and closed the first six positions of the table.
The wind conditions were perfect at the time of the start of the final race, 14-15 knots, with Team Baleària touching the gold and the options much more open for the other two steps of the podium. Nuria Sánchez's crew, aboard Dorsia-Covirán, maintained the streak with which they had started the day and, after Baleària, crossed the line in second place with the CN Arenal team astern, which made them worthy of second and third place respectively.
Thus closes the penultimate event of the Iberdrola Women's Sailing League, dominated by the strong competitiveness of the fleet that has sailed aboard the Bavaria B/One monotypes on loan from the organizing club, CN Arenal. The wind conditions have accompanied the two days, with agile and very disputed confrontations, in which the fleet was generally very tight, providing excitement until the finish line of the last race. All the crews have praised the success of the format of this Iberdrola League, which provides fun and close races, and are already thinking not only about the grand final but also about next year's circuit.
Team Baleària's victory brings the RCN Palma girls dangerously close to Alicante's Dorsia-Covirán in the overall standings, with only one point difference between them ahead of the grand final at RCN Alicante on October 20-22.
