The Balearic Port Authority (APB) has commenced the conditioning works on the Portitxol and Molinar breakwaters. These operations, expected to last approximately three months, aim to improve and reinforce the existing structures against adverse weather conditions, ensuring their stability and functionality, while also contributing to the conservation of the marine environment.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The project includes structural improvements to the breakwaters through the installation of various types of concrete blocks to evaluate their colonization by marine flora and fauna. Blocks with no treatment, textured surfaces, and a bio-enhancing additive will be used.
The work is primarily being carried out using land-based equipment, with occasional support from maritime resources. Additionally, the existing beacon at the tip of the Poniente breakwater in Molinar has been temporarily relocated and will be reinstalled once the work is completed.
Throughout the project, various measures have been taken to minimize environmental impact and ensure the operational functionality of the facilities.
The contract for the project was awarded to the UTE Acondicionamiento de los Diques del Portitxol y del Molinar, a joint venture between Melchor Mascaró and VOPSA, for a total amount of €1,541,919.97.
