The Balearic Port Authority (APB) started today, Thursday, October 3rd, a round of meetings with the parliamentary groups of PSIB-PSOE and Vox to present the proposal for the reorganization of the uses of the Port of Palma to the various political parties represented in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands.

This marks the final phase of the participatory process initiated by the APB, after presenting the main ideas to more than 65 social, institutional, and economic interest groups linked to the Port of Palma.

The president of the APB, Javier Sanz, and his team met at the APB headquarters with representatives of the socialist group and Vox. Meetings with the parliamentary groups of MES per Mallorca, Mixed Group-Unidas Podemos, the Popular Group, and the Government Delegation are scheduled next. The purpose of these meetings is to inform them about the new proposed locations for the four main uses of the Port of Palma: industrial, passenger and freight transport, cruises, and the typical port-city activities.

As with the other interest groups, these meetings shared the strategic and conceptual vision of the new distribution of port uses to gather initial impressions and comments from all parties. The tasks of defining the budget, hectares of land occupation for each use, work schedules, etc., will be carried out in a second phase, as soon as the APB's Board of Directors approves the drafting of a new project based on the suggestions proposed by all consulted sectors.

Last July, the APB initiated a participatory process with the various interest groups that are part of the Palma port community in order to achieve the broadest consensus in the reorganization of the port. In this participatory process, opinions and any specific requirements considered appropriate are being collected for the development of a new proposal that meets the needs and expectations of all interest groups and prioritizes the general interest.
