The Committee managed to start 23 races in the seven classes gathered in the Bay of Palma. More than 300 boats represented clubs from all over the archipelago in one of the largest sailing events of the season.
Sean Sadler (Club Nàutic S'Arenal), in Optimist; James Lawrence (RCNP), in Optimist D; María Gornés (Club Nàutic Ciutadella), in ILCA 6 women; Xavier Garcia Ollé (RCNP), in ILCA 6 men; John Wolf (Danish, independent), in ILCA 4; Pablo Balaguer and Fonso Comas (Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa), in Snipe, and Russell Brown, in Ok Dinghy, were proclaimed winners of the regatta and received their trophies at the prize-giving ceremony held this afternoon at the organising club's facilities.
On Saturday the start of the fleet had to be postponed due to the lack of wind. It was a long wait, but it was worth it. The calm calm of the morning turned into a southerly breeze shortly before 14.00 hours, which at times reached 12 knots and allowed three races to be held for the Optimist class, whose fleet reached 150 boats. In the rest of the classes, there were different numbers of departures and the day closed with a very positive balance.
Today, Sunday, with overcast skies, the wind blew from land and was, therefore, very strong. To this difficulty we had to add the low intensity of the breeze, which never exceeded 7 knots.
