The XVI Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja is already at the starting line. Four intense days of racing, with two qualifying rounds and two final series. At the official closing of the registrations and unless there are last minute changes, there are already 400 sailors representing 22 countries, including more than 40 Balearic sailors who will compete for this trophy that is already a benchmark in the international Optimist and that, one more year, has the added attraction of being a regatta that counts towards the Optimist Excellence Cup.

There is a high level among the fleet with countries that are playing for much more than just a trophy, as the Torrevieja event, for them, is valid to form their respective national teams in the two international competitions of the class: European and World.

Spain starts as a great favourite, highlighting the sailor of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Nikko Palou, runner-up of Europe 2023. A total of 46 Balearic sailors from Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Club Nàutic S'Estanyol, Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, Real Club Náutico de Palma and Club Nàutic Cala Gamba are taking part.

As for the internationals, the focus will be on the Italians Mattia Di Martino and Andrea Demurtas, as well as the Swedish Alexander Forssen for the boys. In the women's category, all eyes are on Ukraine's Olha Lubianska for a podium place.

A maximum of 12 races are expected to be completed over the four days. The scheduled start time for the four days has been set at 10.00 a.m., unless there are any changes.
