The international event, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja, kicks off this Thursday, January 30, and will conclude on Sunday, February 2. At the starting line will be 430 sailors representing 29 countries.

Today, Thursday, January 30, 45 Balearic Optimist class sailors face the first round of this regatta, which is part of the Optimist Excellence Cup.
And it does so by meeting and exceeding all expectations, both from the RCN de Torrevieja and the Organizing Committee itself. The Torrevieja regatta, under the sponsorship of Euromarina, features 430 sailors representing 29 countries. Poland will have the largest representation with 49; the Netherlands and Turkey will each have 20; Germany 11 and the United States 10. Along with these countries, sailors from Singapore (2), Tajikistan (1) Hong Kong (4), Ukraine (2), China (1) Estonia (2) and Hungary (1) will also attend. Spain, for its part, will have participation from 8 autonomous communities with a total of almost 215 sailors from Galicia, Basque Country, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Valencian Community, Region of Murcia, Andalusia, and Canary Islands, representing 36 yacht clubs.
A lot of level and quality in Torrevieja, highlighting among them the newly proclaimed world champion, Marta Mansito from the RCN Gran Canaria. The American Pablo Muñoz, fifth in the 2024 Argentina World Championship, will also be present.
The 430 sailors have ahead four intense days, with 12 races planned in total, with the first two days of qualifying rounds and two of finals, if wind conditions allow and the planned program can be completed. The starting time for the first race of the day has been set at 10:00 AM, the same for the following three days, unless changes are made.
Socially, the Welcome Party stands out, a party for all sailors promoted by the main sponsor: Euromarina, in which the countries and autonomous communities represented at the Torrevieja event parade, ending with the great flag party.
As for yesterday, Wednesday, January 29, the teams focused on administrative procedures, unloading trailers, finalizing details, and setting up boats and equipment for the start of the competition. Some of the teams have already been in Torrevieja for a few days, so they have already completed their final training in the water.
