Spain has traveled with a large representation, with over 50 paddlers, among them outstanding balearic athletes, with the intention to get better results obtained from the last World Championships, celebrated in Italy, and so they did.

The balearic paddlers have accomplished a total of three medals in this European Championship. The paddler of the Real Club Náutico of Pollença, Joan Toni Moreno has been proclaimed European Champion in the category C1 200 sub23, and his companion of the club and sister, María dels Àngels Moreno is subchampion in C2 500 sub23 feminine next to her Galician partner Antia Otero. The last balearic medal was given to the paddler of the Real Club Náutico of Palma, Álex Graneri, who got a bronze medal in the race K4 500 sub23, next to his partners Iván Fernández, Xoel García and Carlos García.

Spain has finished its second medal table with 20 awards: five gold, eight silver and seven bronze (six Junior, ten Sub 23 and four Paracanoe), three over Germany (also with five gold medals, but with only five silver medals), but far away of the winners of the competition, the paddlers of Hungary added up to 32 medals with nothing less than 21 gold medals.
