After a standout performance in the qualifying phase, the Spanish team showcased their skills in the last two races of Group B, achieving a second place and a first place that propelled them to the next round.

In the first race, the team defeated one of their main rivals, the Netherlands, and in the second, with a decisive victory, they eliminated Canada and surpassed Australia in the overall standings, qualifying as second in Group B. This Tuesday, they will fight for a historic ticket to the final, scheduled for Thursday, September 26.

SailTeam BCN completed a great qualifying phase, achieving a total of two victories, two second places, one third, one fourth, one fifth, and one sixth in the eight races held.

The semifinals promise to be exciting, as the team will compete not only against Sweden, the group leader, and Australia, third place, but also against the top three from Group A. Four fleet races will be held, and the top two will advance to the final. In Group A, the favorites are Italy, the United States, and Great Britain, while the Italian Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, led by Marco Gradoni, is considered the main contender.

Regarding Monday's races, Spain displayed confidence from the start. In the first race, only Australia managed to surpass them, crossing the finish line with a 25-second lead. However, the Spanish team secured their qualification with an undeniable victory in the second race, where they led at all times and completed the course in 14:28, with Sweden and Canada finishing 15 and 43 seconds behind, respectively.

SailTeam BCN consists of seven national sailors, including Balearics Albert Torres (Real Club Náutico de Palma), Conrad Konitzer (Club Nàutic S’Arenal), and Neus Ballester (Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita), who is also part of the women’s team competing in this America’s Cup starting September 26.
