This weekend, 16th and 17th of March, the Real Club Náutico de Calpe will be hosting the second round of the Iberdrola Women's Sailing League. Twelve teams are registered for the event, four of them newcomers to the 2024 circuit.

With the Balearic teams Team Baleària-RCN Palma and Club Nàutic Arenal at the top of the rankings, the Iberdrola League fleet welcomes the teams Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, Zona Norte-RCM Santander, Alicante City & Beach of the RCR Alicante, Pinky Team-RCN Gran Canaria.

This time there will be six autonomous communities of origin of the participating crews: Balearic Islands (Team Baleària-RCN Palma, CN Arenal, RCN Port de Pollença), Canary Islands (Pinky Team-RCN Gran Canaria, RCN Arrecife), Cantabria (Zona Norte-RCM Santander), Comunitat Valenciana (Sailing Point-CN Altea, Alicante City & Beach-RCR Alicante, Valderas-RCN Valencia, Gabantte Sailing Team-RCN Calpe) Madrid (Madrid Navega-RCN Madrid) and Basque Country (Surne EV JLU-RCM Abra-RSC).

After sailing the Platu 25 monotypes in Altea, the units that the RCN Calpe is making available to the sailors this time are the Tom 28, an 8.5 meter long boat inspired by the America's Cup units of the 2000s, with great stability and good performance.

As usual, the regatta programme includes a qualifying series after which the top six teams will compete in a Medal Race. The races will be in a round-robin format, pitting all the teams against each other.

It should be noted that this year the Iberdrola League classification, at the end of the third event in Lanzarote (27th and 28th of April), will be used to decide the crew that will represent Spain in the Women's Sailing Champions League, a competition that will bring together the best European teams in Berlin from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June.
