The different teams will sail on board of the Platu 25 monotypes provided by the organization, in a series of short races in which they will face each other to complete the Qualifying Series, after which a Medal Race will be held between the top six finishers.
With many teams still in training and that will join the Iberdrola League in upcoming events, in the call for Altea are registered eleven teams representing the Club Náutico Altea, Club Náutico El Masnou / Balís, Club Náutico Arenal, Real Club Marítimo del Abra-RSC, Real Club Náutico Arrecife, Real Club Náutico Madrid, Real Club Náutico Palma, Real Club Náutico Tenerife, Real Club Náutico Valencia and Real Club de Regatas Alicante.
The Balearic Islands will be represented in this first event by the teams of Real Club Náutico Palma and Club Náutico Arenal, first and third ranked respectively in the 2023 edition. The crew of the Palma yacht thus becomes the team to beat, which is again captained by the laureate Maria Bover, without losing sight of the Arenal girls who also repeat skipper with Aina Colom.
Six autonomous communities are represented in this first event: Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Valencia, Madrid and the Basque Country. The varied origin of the teams, including the two island communities, is a good reflection of the interest aroused by the Iberdrola League, which is expected to exceed the 23 crews participating in the previous edition, and which is also the Spanish Women's Sailing Championship.
After the inaugural race in the CN Altea, the Iberdrola League will continue in the waters of the Valencian Community in March, on the 16th and 17th, with headquarters in the RCN Calpe. The next event of the year will be in the Canary Islands, in Lanzarote, where the RCN Arrecife will host the third race on April 27th and 28th. After the summer, the calendar will resume in the month of September in Galicia, 21st and 22nd, at the Centro Galego de Vela under the organization of the Real Federación Gallega de Vela, before facing the grand final to be held in the Basque Country, on 12th and 13th of October, based at the RCM del Abra-RSC.
