During that year, the first chief was appointed and the Chief of Orders of the Naval Sector was activated, creating the organizational structure of the time, with all the Navy units in the Balearic Islands subordinated to the Naval Sector, including the afloat units stationed in the Balearic Islands.
To mark this anniversary, the Porto Pí Naval Station in Palma will host a series of activities, including a mass at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel and a ceremony at 12:00 noon on the Porto Pí quay, presided over by the Admiral of the Cartagena Arsenal, Vice Admiral Alejandro Cuerda Lorenzo.
The ceremony will be attended by the ships of the Countermine Measures Force (MCM), which have participated in the MINEX-24 naval manoeuvres and have been historically linked to this Naval Sector for many years.
The Military Authorities of Palma, former chiefs of the Balearic Islands Naval Sector and members of the Navy stationed or resident in Mallorca who have retired are also expected to attend.
