The Balearic Marine Cluster joins the Clúster Marítimo Español

Both entities collaborate with a common goal to push the development and competitiveness of the nautical business fabric and the ship repair and maintenance industry in the Balearic Islands.

Balearic Marine Cluster (BMC), the business initiative made up by more than 90 companies, has announced its collaboration with the Clúster Marítimo Español (CME), that joins a unique organization, all the industries, services and economic activities of the spanish land related to the sea.

Premises such as the improvement of the training offer, the dissemination and development of a quality job offer in a pioneering sector, or the promotion of the sector through responsible and environmentally sustainable practices, make this union makes sense in a joint effort to promote a stable and sustained growth of the industry.

The Spanish Maritime Cluster seeks to improve the competitiveness of companies through cooperation, complementarity and communication, values that Balearic Marine Cluster shares and has demonstrated in the implementation of various projects and initiatives.

Since its creation in 2019, the innovative Balearic business association has experienced exponential growth, not only in the number of members, which exceeds 95 companies, but also in the development and implementation of projects, accumulating more than 100 initiatives.

The innovation and improvement of the competitiveness are the main axes in the projects of BMC. An example, is the development of the first balearic nautical sector report, presenting in “The Balearic Superyacht Forum”, the first international congress of superyachts of the Balearic Islands,  celebrating the past month with collaboration with the specialized media The “Superyacht Group”.

This report highlights the importance of the sector in the archipelago, which in 2022 represented 3.1% of the Balearic PIB. This underlines the importance of associations such as BMC in the development of an industry with high growth potential in the Balearic Islands.

Another significant project of the Balearic Marine Cluster is the creation of a competitiveness index for ship repair and maintenance companies, which aims to support companies in their quest for business excellence through the continuous improvement of their processes.

The union of the Balearic Marine Cluster with the Clúster Marítimo Español does not only reinforce the competitiveness of the balearic nautical industry, but of all the nautical Spanish fabric, fostering business synergies and knowledge transfer in industry.
