According to data collected in the "Report on the recreational boating market. January-April 2024", published by ANEN from data provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy, this development contrasts with the national marine market, which has registered a total of 1,540 registrations in the first four months of the year. 540 registrations in the first four months of the year, representing a year-on-year decline of 18.6%, which translates into 351 fewer registrations than those made a year ago and which mainly affect the segments of jet skis and boats up to 8 meters in length, although all types of boats recorded falls of between 3% and 7% less than in the period previously computed.

Of the total number of boats registered up to April at national level, 63.5% correspond to boats for private use and 36.5% (561 registrations) are boats for yacht charter which, after the boom of 2023, stabilizes with data similar to those of 2022.

Returning to the Balearic Islands, it has consolidated its position as the leading province in the national nautical market, accounting for 21.6% of the registrations registered in the whole country, compared to 17.5% a year ago. It is followed by Barcelona, with 8.38% compared to 10.74% in April 2023, and Girona, with almost 6%.

As for the charter market, the Balearic Islands registered 196 units, a slight year-on-year decrease of 1.5%. Charter boats account for 59% of total registrations so far this year in the Islands. The archipelago is also the province with the largest market share in this category, accounting for almost 35% of registrations, compared to 28.7% a year ago. It is followed by Girona, with 9.27%, and Barcelona, with 6.42%.
