After obtaining the country's Olympic place in the ILCA 6 World Championship at the beginning of January, the Spanish team must decide who will be the national representative in Paris 2024, for which the progress of the sailors will be taken into account both in this European and in the Princess Sofia Trophy in April.

The Spanish participation is fairly even between ILCA 6 and 7, with 11 and 10 registered respectively, to which must be added three athletes participating in ILCA 6 men, two of whom compete in sub19 category, which are the sailors of the Real Club Nautico de Palma, Sergio Garcia and Tim Lubat.

These 24 sailors come from seven communities, being the Balearic Islands one of the most represented communities with seven sailors. In ILCA 7 Pep Cazador from Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Jagoba Huércanos from Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, Mario Plomer from Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx and Javier Segui from Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença. In ILCA 6 men, the sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Sergio García and Tim Lubat. And in ILCA 6 female, the sailor of the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita Marga Perelló.

The largest category is the ILCA 7 with 140 entries, in ILCA 6 will be 107 boats that will cross the starting line, and 71 in ILCA 6 men.

The competition will start on Sunday 18th with the Qualifying Series that will last until Tuesday 20th. The fleets of each category will then be divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze groups to compete in the Final Series, ending on Friday 23rd with the Medal Race between the 10 best classified and a final race for the rest of the participants. The ILCA 6 men's class, which in addition to the absolute continental title puts at stake the European sub19, will not compete in the Medal Race.
