"This is a very important championship for the club, not only because it is the second time we host it, but also because it will serve as training and to accumulate experience for the organization of the Spanish Cup, which will be held at the CNR at the end of March," says Miki Bover, the club's sports director. This competition will be open to Balearic sailors who have participated in the three regional qualifying regattas: the Federation Cup, the Illes Balears and this Balearic Championship.
"What's more, it is the first step towards the IQ Foil World Championship, which our club will have the privilege of organizing next autumn", he adds. Among the outstanding sailors who will participate in this Balearic Championship, names such as Ramon Villalonga (CNR) IQ Foil sub19 male and Ariadna Patiño (CNA) in sub19 female stand out.
The championship will consist of a total of 9 races (3 per day) for the Techno 293 sailors and 12 races (4 each day) for the IQ Foil sailors, all of which will be sailed in fleet. In the case of Techno, the sailors will be divided by age, in the U13 and U15 subclasses, each of them in male and female categories. As for IQ Foil, there will also be such an age division, U17 and U19, male and female.
