The Civil Guard inspects diving centers, vessels, and ports in Menorca

Last week, the Underwater Activities Group (GEAS) of the Civil Guard of Mallorca carried out a series of inspections and services of special relevance at diving centers, vessels, and ports, among others, in Menorca.

The GEAS agents conducted several inspections on charter vessels from the 6th list, as well as rental jet skis. The aim of this service is to control and inspect irregular activities related to the commercial activity of renting passenger transport vessels, anchoring in illegal areas, or picking up people at points not enabled for this purpose.

They also inspected five diving centers, both in the office and while conducting activities at sea. The main purpose of these inspections is to supervise that the centers engaged in diving activities comply with current regulations, check the condition of rental equipment, the state of compressors and bottles of pressurized equipment, as well as the documentation of the center's own workers. During activities at sea, while the activity is being carried out, it is verified that all safety norms are complied with, such as carrying the minimum essential equipment, forming the minimum number of personnel necessary to carry out the diving activity, ensuring the diving conditions are suitable, or checking the captain's documentation, among others.

Furthermore, the Ports of Mahón and Ciutadella were also inspected. Within the functions of GEAS, there is the anti-terrorist control of ports for which they perform dives at the ferry docks, as well as on the surface.
