After the activity, which will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the CNP facilities, participants will receive from the IGFA a 'Passport for Fishing' that will certify that they have the necessary knowledge to fish responsibly and ethically, promoting the conservation of marine wildlife.
The IGFA is an international non-profit organization fully committed to the conservation of the marine environment and the promotion of responsible and ethical fishing practices through science, education and policy development. On the part of the club, the aim is that the practice of recreational fishing, deeply rooted in Mallorca and specifically in the Club Nàutic Portitxol, has generational relay and continues to permeate among young people, who represent the future of our traditions and values, adapted to the current sensitivity about the environment.
The workshop will be given by doctor Josep Alós, CNP fishing vocal and recognized scientist of the IMEDEA-CSIC; Víctor Fernández, member of the club and member of the Bazar las Palmeras team, and Joan M. Rayo, representative of the IGFA. During the same, the instructors will transmit all the knowledge about the species that can be fished, their minimum sizes and the value of sustainability in the practice of fishing.
Like this, the students will receive a theory class where they will learn to make different knots and use different materials of fishing, to get to know and respect the marine environment and recognize the principle fish. Finally, they will finish with a practical fishing lesson at the club. The goal is to train a new generation of fishermen and make them conscious about conservation and sustainable fishing.
This is a free activity with places limited to 20 participants for children between 5 and 13 years old. Registrations can be made until Thursday, September 21st at the club's offices or by calling 971 242 424.
