This activity was done this week, starting with a theory lesson in which they went over the action emergency procedures and appropriate first aid in case of emergency. Little after the course they focused on the management of materials, such as fire extinguishers, motor pump, hydrants and other available items.

At 13:00h, it was possible to make a first emergency drill, which was repeated until lunch break, ending with a new emergency simulation. Of course, all of these simulations were held after informing the Capitanía Marítima, Ports IB, Local Police and Guardia Civil, and it has been demonstrated that the CNR is prepared for any emergency situation. After a final evaluation of the course, it ended at 17:30 pm, undoubtedly an intense but necessary day.

“This activity has served so that all the staff of the club is perfectly trained to face any situation of emergency”, points out one of the instructors of the course, José Luis Fayos, of Global Management. “In addition to practical cases of fires in marinas and a series of practical exercises in the handling of motor pumps, fire extinguishers and absorption barriers in the event of oil spills, we carried out a complete fire drill in the dinghy sailing area of the club. The staff had to call 112 and take a series of measures to protect the club's facilities. In addition, a person fell into the water and had to be rescued and attended to, implementing the corresponding resuscitation protocol with the club's semi-automatic defibrillator," he adds. "This is a necessary training for the club's staff and is part of the Self-Protection and Emergency Plan," he concludes.

"These training sessions are held annually at the club, in compliance with our Self-Protection and Emergency Plan," says Miquela Adrover, Managing Director of the CNR. "We have found that these courses and, in particular, the drills, are very useful for the staff when faced with an emergency, since, in the event of an emergency, everyone would know how to act. Independently of the monthly reviews of the emergency teams, every year we take advantage of this day to analyze motor pumps, environmental protection elements, signaling, communications, etc. and, more critically, to consider any improvements, if necessary," he adds.
