The Club Nàutic S’Arenal is preparing for the 59th Great Day of Sailing- Bufete Frau

The Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) is preparing to host from the 19th to the 27th of August one of the most important races of its annual sailing competitions. The Great Day of Sailing - Bufete Frau, is a historical sport event and very special for the club and as well for all the sea lovers of the Balearic Islands, with races from saturday the 19th until monday the 21st and thursday 24th until sunday 27th of August.

Also, at the gathering there will be other parallel activities, among them stand out the XX Travesía Sa Milla CNA - Cala Blava, an emblemátic swimming race in open sea which will take place the 26th of August from 9h in the morning at the beach Es Caló and the benefits of which will be given to the ELA association of the Balearic Islands. 

About 700 national and local sailors of the Optimist categories, 420, ILCA 6, ILCA 4, Open IQ Foil, Techno 293, Formula Windsurf, Musto Skiff, Lateen rig sail and cruise ship will participate in the encounter, which gathers athletes from first level of the nautical world, representing dozens of nautical clubs of all of Spain. Currently, the registered vessels exceed half a million. The registration period closes on the 14th of August.

Also, the traditional sailing will have its spotlight in the gathering, as the second weekend will be celebrated with races of lateen rig sailing, in modalities such as Regatta, Open and Llaüt. As well, the social side of this event will have its moment, with races on the 26th of August for the cruise category, which will compete in ORC.

The Great Day of Sailing - Bufete Frau is the oldest race organized by the CNA and without a doubt one of the most awaited of the sailing lovers. It is one of the first races that the club started, which is a celebration of work done during the season.  This big sport and social event puts an end to the summer competitions and begins the new winter sports season at the Balearic Islands.

The gathering, devoted on the sailing competition calendar of the Bay of Palma, is made possible by the collaboration of the Bufete Frau. A company whose founder, José Frau Greenfield, has a historical relationship with club in which he was trained at and where he sailed when he was little, achieving a not inconsiderable track record with titles such as sup champion of the Optimist (1983), champion of Spain at the European Category in 1984 and sub champion of the world European Category in 1985. The family saga continued its steps sailing at the CNA, that not only they unite themselves with a commercial relationship, but also an emotional one.
