The Club Náutico de Ibiza celebrates its centenary with the Pereyra Theater Trophy

This weekend, the Pereyra Theater Trophy for teams reserved for ORC Cruiser class boats took place, organized by the Club Náutico Ibiza.

Eight boats participated in the event, grouped into two teams composed of four boats each.

The green team was made up of the boats “Kametimo” by Vicente Marí, “Adelaide” by José Boned, “Blue Brothers” by Javier Marí, and “Esquitx” by Vicente Ribas. The red team was formed by the boats “Alba Alba” by Luis Mata, “Posidonia” by Ramón Balanzat, “Es Canaret” by Alfonso Galván, and “Atlant del Vent” by Jaime Serra.

On Saturday, March 15, with a southwest wind ranging from 8 to 12 knots of intensity, the first scoring race began at 3:30 PM, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. In this race, the red team took the lead, scoring 16 points against the 20 points of the green team, seeming with the advantage administered they would take the final victory after winning this race.

However, the overall final victory went to the green team, thanks to a phenomenal performance in the second race held, conquering the Pereyra Theater Trophy.

The second race started at 10:30 AM on a course designed by the organization of 20 nautical miles. The wind blew more generously starting at 12 knots of intensity and ending the second race with peaks of 24 knots from the south.

The green team scored 17 points this time, and the red team scored 22 points in this second race. The red team suffered the withdrawal of two boats that, due to various problems with the foresail, had to abandon the race that became tough due to the prevailing conditions.

Thus, the green team totaled 37 points over the 38 points accumulated by the red team, which had to settle for the second position.

All the participating boats that attended belong to the Club Náutico Ibiza, which managed to gather 40 athletes representing the eight boats, enjoyed two excellent races held in the bay of Ibiza.

The next competition for this class will be held on April 5 with the celebration of the Vuelta a Formentera a dos Yokubo Trophy.
