The CNA awards the fishing trophies of 2023

About 150 people have gathered this Saturday at the restaurant of the Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) to participate at the Fishing Trophy Awards Season 2023, with the presence of the Board of Directors of the club in full, representatives of the sponsors of the various tests and the mayor of Llucmajor, Xisca Lascolas, accompanied by the councilors of Sports, Simó Adrover, and Human Resources and Public Function, Antonio Cayuela.

The evening went on in a relaxed atmosphere and great camaraderie, starting with dinner, consisting of finger food, Iberian prey with garnish and gató with ice cream, and washed down with white and red wines and champagne. The Fishing Section of the CNA has given all the fishermen attending a fishing knife from Cuchillería Ordinas, while their companions have also received a detail.

After the “agape”, it was proceeded to the delivery of the prizes of the year, including the seven Regularity Tests (Trofeo Las Sirenas, Fondo Balizado Bodegas Suau, Especies por Parejas, Curricán Costero, Especies por Puntos, Raors Mecanáutica and Calamar Balizado Can Calicó). There were also prizes for the winners of the Sant Cristófol Trophy in Pairs, the Serranos Fiat Llucmajor Trophy and the CNA Deep Sea Trophy, as well as 7 special prizes for the largest pieces of species such as conger eel, dèntol or red scorpionfish of more than 500 grams caught throughout the year.

The prizes, consist of fishing equipment, have been presented by the fishing member of the CNA, Toni Moreno, and by some of the sponsors of the club's fishing activities: Bazar Las Palmeras, Can Calicó, Bodegas Suau, Mecanáutica Asensio, Eurobalear de Transportes, Fiat Llucmajor, Renault Llucmajor, Torrenova Rent a Cars and Ajuntament de Llucmajor.

In addition, tribute has been paid to Rafa Garcia, CNA member, great lover of fishing and regular participant of the club's fishing meetings, who passed away last year. The Fishing Section of the CNA presented his relatives, present at the gala, with a plaque in recognition of his memory. 

Throughout 2023, 32 boats and 75 anglers participated in ANC fishing meets. "The year went reasonably well: we were able to hold all the events on the calendar, the catches were plentiful and the anglers obtained good scores," says Moreno, who has completed his first year at the head of the Fishing Section.

This 2024, 16 fishing encounters are scheduled. After the celebration last month of the Squid Balizado test, the next event was supposed to be this Saturday, when the Trofeo Las Sirenas Balizado was to be held, but the bad weather conditions have forced to postpone it until next Saturday, February 17th. It is expected the participation of 45 fishermen aboard about twenty boats. This is the first of the 7 Regularity tests scheduled throughout the year, and will consist of a meeting of bottom fishing focused on fishing for species of ray-finned fish, pageles, cantaras, cows, esparrais, maidens, snappers, thrushes, ...). Upon returning to port, participants will enjoy a snack at the CNA Restaurant.
