The Copa del Rey MAPFRE of 2025 will host the European Championship of the ORC

The Offshore Racing Council (ORC) has just granted the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP) the organization of the European Championship of the class ORC of 2025.

The competition, in which one of the largest international fleets of cruising yachts ever assembled in the Bay of Palma is expected to participate, will form part of the sporting programme of the 43rd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE.

Last weekend, a delegation from the Real Club Náutico de Palma headed by its director, Manuel Fraga, defended the candidacy before the Offshore Classes and Events Committee held in the city of Málaga. In its presentation, the RCNP showed all the infrastructure possibilities of the club, the possible regatta courses in the bay of Palma and the Balearic coast, as well as the logistical capacity of Palma, with its hotel and restaurant capacity, and the numerous destinations that Palma airport offers both to Europe and the rest of the world.

After the presentation, the Offshore Racing Council informed that the final deliberation would be announced this Tuesday, making public that "the RCN de Palma is awarded the organization of the 2025 European Championship in the 43rd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE".

"This is great news for both the club and for Palma," said Rafael Gil, president of the RCNP. "Year after year the club reinforces its commitment to sport and to the internationalization of our events so that both Palma and Mallorca strengthen their image, not only in Spain but also in the rest of the world". Gil wanted to say goodbye by showing his gratitude to the ORC, "from today we will work to try to organize the best European in recent years".
