The councilor of the Sea and Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, has met up this morning at the facilities of the Club Nàutic S’Arenal with the representatives of the nautical balearic sector to get to know the needs and demands of one of the principal economic power of the Balearic Islands.
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERThis meeting has been possible thanks to the event celebrated and sponsored by the Association and Nautical Activities Federation for Environment topics (FANMED), that by the slogan “A sea of respect” was able to gather the nautical balearic sector.
During this first meeting with the nautical sector, there was an informative video shown with the objective to promote conscious and respectful sailing towards the environment. The video “A sea of respect: Sail in a way that is responsible with nature and to the community”, made by FANMED with collaboration with Ports Ib, sourced by an initiative of ANADE a couple of months ago, in which present environment practical advice for sailing secure, with basic rules of anchoring, security and recycling, among other topics related to activities at sea. “It involves convincing the people to take care of the sea and show group work in the sector that we need to do during the next four years” assures the Sea councilor.
This has been the first exclusive reunion with Lafuente with the nautical balearic sector, but we hope that there will be more to come, as one of the main complaints of the representatives of the nautical industry is the lack of communication in the last eight years with the public administrations. The Sea councilor has committed to maintain an open and active dialogue with the sector to work in a joint way, searching for solutions and with technical support to all the questions suggested. “One of the positive points of the meeting is the union in the sector to work together on these topics” has pointed out Lafuente.
Other than the dialogue, to get the situation better of the nautical balearic sector is necessary to “search balanced and non-extreme solutions” assures the president of FANMED, Biel Dols. “The most important thing is to have a conversation between the Government and the sector, but without prohibiting” says the vice president of FANMED, Isabel Teruel.
Teruel, wanted to emphasize that this video is specially directed to people that do not know about the current rules of our islands, for that being a lack of information or because they come for holiday for a couple of days. “The people who go out to sea are because they love it alot and they take care of it, but there are others that come on vacation and do not know what the posidonia is, and this video has as a goal to show these people what has to be done” explains Teruel.
Another problem that the nautical sector faces is the boat rental without license. “These situations create complicated conditions at sea due to lack of knowledge of the security measures and we hope that with this video it will minimize these risks” assures Dols.
