From nearly 50 years ago, all the summers at Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx reassembles the members, workers at the club, families, friends and people who live around the area, to enjoy a lovely evening eating sardines, at an unmatched ambience and accompanied by music.
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERAbout 700 people came last Saturday 22nd July at the club to enjoy one more year of the traditional “sardinada” organized by Club de Vela Puerto Andratx.
An encounter that “started 48 years ago in a simple way” remembers the president of the club, Ginés Martínez, given that the assistants would queue up to get plates of sardines off the barbeque. Like everything, this traditional summer meal has been changing along the years and has transformed into something more formal and organized, with chefs, waiters and long tables disputed in the installations of the club to accommodate all the guests.
In fact, this year to give food to the 700 assistants, at five o’clock in the afternoon, and at seven o’clock the people in charge of the barbeques started to grill the 300 kilos of sardines which were served.
Like the way the dinner was organized, the music has also changed with the time passing. “Once ago we started with the sardine regional dances, we have also had orchestras and music groups, but the last years we have had a brass band to liven up the moment and wait for the sardines, so that later the people can talk calmly with background music” recognizes the president of the CVPA.
This year between dinners they talked for many hours until midnight. A good ambience that the participants could continue the “sardinada” at the bar of the club while they drink something on this magical summer night.
