The Sant Antoni Town Council, with the collaboration of the Sant Antoni and Eivissa fishermen's guilds, the Consell d'Eivissa, Peix Nostrum and Ports IB, are organising a new edition of the Fira del Peix i del Marisc d'Eivissa this Saturday, 11th of May.
VISIT OUR ONLINE TV AND EXPERIENCE THE SEA IN FIRST PERSON, WHEREVER AND WHENEVER YOU WANTThe fair, now in its fifth year, was originally called the Fira de la Llagosta, la Gamba i el Peix d'Eivissa and changed its name last year, giving it a more generic name to cover a wider variety of products and provide an outlet for all seasonal fish and seafood.
The gastronomic event will be held in the port of Sant Antoni, which will host different tapas tasting stalls, a popular rice dish, a craft market, a show cooking and musical performances.
The Buscastell group will offer a ball pagès exhibition at 12 noon as the opening act of the day, followed by a show cooking performance by the chef of the Es Gerret restaurant, José González, and the fisherman and member of the Sant Antoni Brotherhood, Nicolás Vallespir. González will prepare a sirvia tartare with pickled ‘gerret’ mayonnaise, pepper and mussel coca and a peasant salad, while Vallespir will prepare a lobster ‘sofrit pagès’
The fair will have five stalls, with the participation of four restaurants from the municipality and the fishermen's guild of Sant Antoni, offering tapas for seven euros. The dishes will combine traditional and innovative recipes, with the island's fish and seafood as the main protagonists.
At midday, a large popular fish and seafood paella will be prepared at a price of 17 euros, the proceeds of which will go to the Spanish KBG Syndrome Association. The fair will also feature a craft market and a musical performance by the group Rysser Trio from 15.30 hours.
The councilor for Local Economic Development of the Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Council, Miguel Tur, explained that "the aim of the event is to raise awareness and highlight the work of the fishing sector and the fishermen's guilds, as well as to promote the local seasonal produce that our sea offers us". "At the fair you will find different types of fish, prawns and lobster, giving visibility to the brand 'Peix Nostrum'," said Tur.
