The vessel was manufactured using robotic 3D printing technology from the leading Italian company Caracol AM.
With this innovation, V2 Group lays the groundwork for future industrialization applied to this type of vessel. The development process considered every aspect, from material selection to optimizing printing, assembly, and testing times, to identify the key elements needed to scale production efficiently, sustainably, and economically. This strategic approach is crucial to making this technology a widely applicable solution in the nautical sector and, in the future, extending it to other industries such as aerospace and automotive.
“Large-format 3D printing technology is transforming the nautical sector by offering competitive advantages with highly customizable designs, a fully digital design process, accelerated production times, minimal material waste, and a significant reduction in environmental impact,” explains Albert Chamorro, CEO of V2 Group. In fact, this revolutionary prototype, in addition to being 100% electric, is 90% recyclable—an important milestone for an industry struggling to take on environmental challenges.
This achievement not only proves the viability of large-format robotic 3D printing but also sets the foundation for a new era in the manufacturing of boats and nautical components, including the transition towards industrializing the process. This will pave the way for a more scalable, sustainable, and accessible production model within the sector.
The prototype built by V2 Group has been selected as a flagship model because it represents the most complex floating structure ever conceived. This single-piece catamaran stands out not only for its technologically challenging design but also for its maximum efficiency, powered by fully innovative technology.
Following the success of this first prototype, V2 Group plans to establish multiple production centers in Spain for manufacturing throughout 2025.
