The fleet of the Solo Med is already at the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita

In an intense day of sailing, the Italian Nicolò Gamenara has emerged as the winner of the first phase of the SoloMed regatta in the Series category. Aboard his boat "RED HOT MINI PEPPER 1073", Gamenara has sailed with skill through the difficult waters of the Mediterranean, covering the route from Barcelona to the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, Mallorca, in a remarkable time of 24 hours and 16 minutes, setting a new historical record for this first stage.

The sailors have enjoyed easterly weather conditions with difficult moments of more than 25 knots alternating with ideal conditions also from the east with medium winds that have allowed them to sail at high speeds and practically direct course.

Following in the footsteps of the Italian sailor, Loïc Guyader achieved a creditable second place with his Mini "GUSTA" 1055, reaching the finish line with a time of 24 hours and 47 minutes. Third place went to Thomas Darmont with the "DLG PROFILS ET COMPETENCES" 1122, who completed the course in 24 hours and 50 minutes.

In the Protos category, the "EKI" 1089 of Cecilia Zorzi has been the first boat classified with a time of 25 hours and 19 minutes, second position for the "GIGALI" 1011 of Giulia Farnetani with a time of 30 hours and 13 minutes and the third step of the podium is for the "PARIS TEXAS 5" of Martial Cuendet with a time of 33 hours and 37 minutes.

After their arrival at Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, the sailors will have a few days to rest and prepare for the second and most demanding leg of the competition. This second part of the regatta, of 500 miles, will start from Mallorca and head towards the Pitiusas Islands and the Columbretes Islands before returning to Barcelona. If there are no changes, the start of the second leg is scheduled for May the 11th.
