The planning, organization, and execution of this action involved various institutions, including the Posidonia Surveillance Service of the Govern and the Natural Spaces team from the General Directorate of Natural Environment; environmental agents from the Govern and the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge; the Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil; the GEAS and the Local Police of Vila. These organizations carried out a coordinated intervention and pooled their resources to identify and penalize illegal anchorages, thus ensuring compliance with current legislation.
The operation, which included three surveillance boats from the Govern, began with an initial meeting at the Moll de Botafoc, followed by the transfer to the Talamanca area. The action lasted until 2:30 PM, during which patrols, monitoring, and control of about 14 boats were carried out. As a result, a total of 9 reports were issued, two of them for anchoring in a high-value area where anchoring is completely prohibited. At the end, the results were evaluated to identify areas of improvement for future interventions.
It should be noted that the Posidonia Central coordinated all communications during the operation and an inspector was also included in the operation for the control of illegal charters operating in this area.
Overall, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Environment, along with the participating entities, emphasize the importance of the collaboration of the population and the commitment of all stakeholders involved in the conservation efforts of the seagrass.
