Today, March 13th, the Govern of the Balearic Islands presented the "Blue Week," a program of free activities that will take place from May 5th to 9th, targeting fifth and sixth-grade students from all educational centers in the Balearic Islands. The main goal of this initiative is to promote a culture of respect and responsibility towards the marine environment from an early age, while encouraging participation in nautical activities and raising environmental awareness.

The program is driven by the Govern of the Balearic Islands, through the Ministries of the Sea and Water Cycle, Education and Universities, Tourism, Culture and Sports, and Ports of the Balearic Islands, in collaboration with the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Balearic Canoeing Federation.

A total of 26 nautical clubs and marinas in the Balearic Islands have joined the initiative, making it a far-reaching project for children's nautical education. These clubs will be responsible for the practical learning of the students, as well as their training in sports values and nautical culture.

The "Blue Week" activity program will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, divided into two parts. A theoretical part will include talks on navigation, safety at sea, plastic pollution in marine ecosystems, as well as workshops on creating with recycled materials and marine knots. The other part will be dedicated to practical nautical activities, such as sailing, canoeing, and paddle surfing. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of these nautical sports, as well as the importance of safety in navigation and the preservation of marine resources.

The presentation event took place at the Cala Gamba Nautical Club, where the Minister of the Sea and Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, was accompanied by the Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercant; the Director General of Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera; the Regional Secretary of Culture and Sports, Pedro Vidal; the Director General of Sports, Joan Antoni Ramonell; the manager of PortsIB, Kiko Villalonga, and the president of the Association of Nautical Clubs of the Balearic Islands, Antoni Estades.

During the presentation, the institutional video of the "Blue Week" was shown, highlighting the fundamental values of the initiative and maritime sports in particular, such as teamwork, effort, discipline, and camaraderie, as well as the poster under the slogan "Come to the sea and start your adventure."

Minister Lafuente highlighted that "the Blue Week is an example of the Govern's commitment to the education of our young people and the preservation of our marine environment. We want this initiative to awaken in them a passion for the sea and for nautical sports while they become aware of the importance of protecting our natural resources."

Moreover, Minister Lafuente emphasized that "this initiative would not be possible without the involvement of the nautical clubs and their fundamental task in the education of the youngest. Their commitment allows us to bring the sea closer to students in a practical way, helping them understand that the protection of the marine environment begins with knowledge and respect."

The "Blue Week" reaffirms the commitment of the Govern of the Balearic Islands to environmental education and the promotion of nautical culture, consolidating the maritime sector as a key ally in the preservation of our natural heritage.
