The III Trofeo Sabatines Crucero ORC of the Club Nàutic Portitxol comes to an end

This Saturday the 18th of May 2024 the last regatta of the "III Trofeo Sabatines Crucero ORC" of the Club Nàutic Portitxol took place. In all the races organized by the club, a dozen boats from various yacht clubs in Mallorca took part.

Although five races were originally scheduled, in the end, due to weather conditions, only two regattas have been held so far in 2024.  

This last race of the CNP regatta calendar started at 12 noon in front of the mouth of the port. A total of five boats took the start in a race marked by a calm sea in which the intensity of the wind went from less to more, increasing from 6 knots at the start of the regatta to 14 knots on the anemometer due to the gusts that were registered on the race course. 

A sunny day with a prevailing light breeze were the ingredients of a race in which all the boats enjoyed the competition that finally, after a great effort that forced the participating crews to trim the sails to perfection,  "Fierabras" from the Porto Pi Naval Base was the first boat to cross the finish line in real time and to finish the race, finishing in second position behind "Micanga" in this race, a result that was enough to proclaim it the champion of the general classification of this 3rd edition of the Sabatines Trophy ORC Cruiser of the Club Nàutic Portitxol.

Second place in the general classification went to "Micanga" based at the Real Club Náutico de Palma and third place went to "Huayra", from the Club de Vela Puerto Portals, both of whom received cases of top brand wines.

In order to put the finishing touch to the club's social regatta circuit and to reward the participating sailors, the same Saturday, after 20h, the trophy ceremony was held at the Restaurante Club Náutico Portitxol. This ceremony, which took place in an atmosphere of companionship and camaraderie, was accompanied by a snack with drinks for participants and friends. 

This third edition of the Trofeo Sabatines Crucero ORC, would not have been possible without the collaboration of the Hotel Portitxol, Restaurante Sa Roqueta and the Club Nàutic Portitxol Restaurant, entities that the club thanks for their support and hopes to count on their support next season.
