So the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, through the Directorate General of Fisheries, has decided to launch a campaign of control and inspection of social networks to pursue these cases.
In this regard, the Director General of Fisheries, Antoni M. Grau, explained that "in a context in which more and more images and videos shared by amateur fishermen on social networks are proliferating, we have detected, unfortunately, that some of these publications show negligent attitudes or illegal activities. This phenomenon is not only limited to the exposure of questionable behavior, but there is also a worrying trend: followers emulate these practices and adopt irresponsible behavior without being aware of the implications they have," he added.
For all these reasons, in order to counteract this trend and prevent the escalation of these behaviors, the inspectors of the General Directorate of Fisheries have launched a control and inspection campaign specifically aimed at addressing this problem.
So far, four cases of serious infractions have been recorded, which could entail penalties of up to thirty thousand euros.
