The Illes Balears Clàssics joins this year the CIM Circuit, the most important classic sailing circuit in the Mediterranean. The race organized every year by the Club de Mar Mallorca, which on this occasion will be held between 17tg and 20th of August, is now part of the elite circuit of historic yacht competitions.

The CIM Circuit (International Committee for the Mediterranean) has been reactivated this year with a total of ten races to be held between May and October in four different countries.

The Commodore of the Club de Mar, Manuel Nadal de Uhler, highlights the importance of the incorporation of the Illes Balears Clàssics to the international classic sailing circuit: "We are happy that our regatta Illes Balears Classics has been included in the Circuit because, on the one hand, we understand that it is a recognition of our good work in the past years and, on the other hand, it will surely contribute to encourage participation in the competition".

Nadal points out that the recovery of the CIM circuit of classic sailing regattas is an important incentive for the maintenance and conservation of these historic boats and reaffirms the commitment of the Club de Mar with the sport in general and the maritime heritage in particular: "Even at this time when we are immersed in a major reform, we have kept the Illes Balears Clàssics at a good level.  Our intention is that the 'reinauguration' of the club constitutes a great event in which the competition plays a very special role".

For his part, CIM's vice-president, Spaniard Andrés de León, explains that "This year we have reactivated the circuit with a different format. It is an initiative to encourage the mobility of the boats between the different countries, because we have a very rich and varied fleet, but sometimes it is very focused on its own country. For this reason, a prerequisite to qualify for the circuit trophies is to participate in at least four of the ten races in at least two different countries."

In Spain, in addition to the Illes Balears Clàssics at the Club de Mar Mallorca, the CIM circuit includes the Regata Puig Vela Clásica in Barcelona and the Copa del Rey de Barcos Clásicos in Mahón. Italy also organizes three races: the Argentario Sailing Week, the Vele d'Epoca d'Imperia and the Raduno Vele Storiche, in Viareggio. Three other regattas are held on the French Mediterranean coast: the Voiles d'Antibes, the Régates Royales in Cannes and the Voiles de Saint-Tropez. The fourth organizing country is the Principality of Monaco, which hosts the Monaco Classic Week.
