The Isla Plana in the port of Mahón will become a reference centre for nautical sport

Approved the agreement between the APB and the CIME for the sporting use of Isla Plana in the port of Mahón, whose facilities will be available to yacht clubs and sports federations.

The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) has agreed at its last meeting, held in Palma, to approve the text of the agreement with the Consell Insular de Menorca (CIME) for the management of space and facilities on Isla Plana in the port of Maó for maritime sports use. The agreement enables the CIME to reach agreements for the use of these spaces by entities, sailing clubs and non-profit associations.

With this agreement, the APB and the CIME aim to establish a space in the center of the port of Maó for sports activities for nautical schools such as sailing and canoeing, and other aquatic disciplines such as scuba diving, among other sports. In addition, the aim is to establish a reference center for adapted water sports, with specific equipment for the needs of users of this group.

Thanks to this agreement, the island administration will have at its disposal a building of one thousand square meters and more than two thousand square meters of dock area belonging to the APB for the practice of the sport. The term of the agreement is six years plus three annual extensions.
