STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERThe Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR) is hosting the Balearic ILCA 4 and ILCA 7 Championship from today, Friday, until Sunday, an event that will see the participation of around a hundred sailors from different clubs on the Islands, as well as some from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo who will be taking advantage of the event to train.
This is the last regional qualifying regatta for the ILCA 4 Spanish Championship, which will take place next weekend in Valencia, so that the CNR will decide the team that will represent the Balearic Islands in this national competition.
Specifically, about fifty sailors will compete in the men's ILCA 4 category, thirty in the women's ILCA 4 and ten in ILCA 7. Among them will be the members of the new CNR team in ILCA 4 of the CNR: Laura Fullana, Francisca Puig, Sofia Salvà, Toni Truyols, Luis Ribas and Marc Coll.
Holding this championship at the CNR demonstrates the club's commitment to dinghy sailing in general and the Laser class in particular. "The last ILCA championship we held was the Illes Balears in 2013. We haven't hosted any event in this class for ten years because, until recently, the club didn't have a team in this category. Fortunately, now things have changed and we have a good Laser fleet," explains Miki Bover, sports director of the CNR.
On Thursday, the sails were sealed and registered. On Friday, after the coaches' meeting, the races began at midday and will continue until Sunday, with a total of 9 races per class. According to the forecast, everything points to changeable weather.
