The legendary 150-mile duo race for cruising class, recently revived by Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR), will be held this year under ORC certification between May 9 and 11. One of the major new features of this edition is that it will be sponsored by Repsol, hence its official name will be the 150 Miles A2 Repsol Trophy.

It will consist of a round trip between Sa Ràpita and Ciutadella, passing by Cabrera with two sailors as crew aboard each participating vessel. Originally, this veteran race involved a solo course from the club to the Isla del Aire in Menorca and back. Now, after its revival in 2023 following several years of hiatus, it offers a route going to Cabrera and from there heading to Ciutadella before returning to the club.

Those interested in participating in the regatta can read the race announcement and formalize their registration from the club's website through the following link: http://regatas.cnrapita.com/es/default/races/race-inscription-cruise-nopre-login/text/trofeo-150-millas-repsol-es/0

As a new feature this year, tracking will be available for all participating vessels, enhancing safety and fleet control, and allowing family, friends of the crew, and sailing enthusiasts to follow the regatta online at all times.

Another major new feature of this edition will be its coincidence with the passage through the CNR of the fleet from the Solo Med regatta for the Mini 6.40 class, organized by the Fundació Navegació Oceànica de Barcelona (FBCN) and Base Mini Barcelona, consisting of 700 miles solo in the waters of Barcelona, Balearic Islands, and the Valencian Community.

"On May 9, from the CNR, the boats of the 150 Miles and the Solo Med will be consecutively started. At the Ciutadella marker, the fleets will separate, as the cruisers will begin the return to Sa Ràpita passing behind the Cabrera Archipelago, while the minis will head to the Pitiusas. This way, about sixty vessels competing in the east of Mallorca and the south of Menorca will add to the spectacle and create a great atmosphere in the club, which will experience a great week of sailing," evaluates Carlos Estellers, responsible for Cruisers at the CNR. "From the club, we are strongly committed to the 150 Miles and we want it to consolidate and gain importance on the national calendar," he adds.

To encourage participation from boats from other clubs, participating vessels will have the right to free mooring at the CNR for 7 days, to choose from the days before or after the race.

Registrations remain open until May 6 and can be made through this link: http://regatas.cnrapita.com/es/default/races/race-inscription-cruise-nopre-login/text/trofeo-150-millas-repsol-es/0

The 150 Miles Regatta, which is currently part of the CNR's A2 Circuit along with the Isla del Sec A2 Trophy and the Vuelta a Cabrera A2, was created decades ago by several enthusiasts linked to the club. Biel Lladó, founder of the emblematic company Nàutica Tramuntana and winner of the 150 miles with his grandson in the last edition with the samaruch quart, recalls its beginnings. “At that time, there were no solo regattas in Mallorca. We were a group of sailors from the area of Sa Ràpita and Colònia de Sant Jordi, very restless and eager to have new experiences at sea,” he recalls. “We wanted to create a regatta that was for solo sailors and that also had a longer route than the usual tests that were typically done. That's how the 150 Miles was born, with the incentive of a journey to Isla del Aire, off the southeast coast of Menorca. We had a great time every time we participated, and I'm sure that now, in this new stage, it will be a source of enjoyment for all its participants. It's a great opportunity for sailors to test themselves, register, and enjoy a different regatta,” he evaluates.
