The 57 lifeguards working for the surveillance and rescue service of the Palma City Council have carried out 62 water rescues since the beginning of the season.

It should be noted that this is the first year the rescue service started before Easter, specifically on March 23rd, and will extend until October, whereas in previous seasons, lifeguard activities began on May 2nd and ended in September.
These details were revealed during an audience given by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, to lifeguard Leandro Staltari, who on June 9th saved the lives of three children trapped among rocks in rough seas on Cala Major beach.
As a result of the rescue, the lifeguard suffered numerous bruises and injuries from which he is currently recovering. The mayor congratulated Staltari for risking his physical integrity to rescue the children and expressed gratitude for the work and dedication of all the lifeguards working on the municipality's beaches.
