Menorca and the port of Mahón will be the epicenter of the Snipe World in 2026. SCIRA approved last weekend to grant the Mahón Maritime Club the organization of the World Championship from September 19 to 26, 2026. The event just concluded in Buenos Aires with its 2024 edition that featured the participation of three crews from the Mahón Maritime Club, and one crew member, in a historic milestone for national sailing.

The best classified from the Club was the technician and also World Champion, Alex Tinoco, who was 19th under the command of the Belgian Manu Hens, achieving silver in the master category.
Lolo Beltrán and Bernie Mur were 36th with 227 points, highlighting a promising third place achieved in the third of the eight races contested. Jordi Triay and Enric Noguera, European champions of the category, finished in 38th position with 233 points, while Marta Torne and Enrique Mir were 67th with 334 points, after a very complicated last day.
“We are very happy with this designation that does justice to the long and successful tradition of Snipe that the Mahón Maritime Club has,” explains the Club's president, Basilio Ferrer. The president himself adds that “it will be a great opportunity to see in person the best pairs of the Snipe category in the waters of Menorca and to project, once again, the Island of Menorca as a destination for nautical tourism not only for its beauty, but also for its conditions and services for this sector.”
