The two gold medals at the senior world championships are the icing on the cake of a spectacular season. “At C1 200 has left me very close to gold,it was a tight end, and at C4 yesterday's results were what we have been training for many weeks. I am very proud and want to relax a little, because the truth is that it has been an intense yar”, assures the majorcan canoer, who the past July already took gold for the world championship Sub23 of C2 500 next to Juan Diego Domingo.

In addition to Joan Toni's triumph, María José Mailliard also won, a chilean sailor that trains by the orders of Kiko Martín with the rest of the sport group of RCNPP. She has been champion of C1 1000, she has the bronze medal in C1 500 and achieved to qualify for her country in the C1 200 Olympic distance.

Antia Jacome, galician of the UCAM and also “adopted” at Pollença, has taken nothing less than three silver medals (C2 500, C1 200 and C2 200), guaranteeing the spanish presence at Paris in the two olympic distances. Lastly but not least, Pablo Martínez and Tano García have accomplished to get third place as well, which automatically qualifies our country for the Olympic Games next year.

Finally, Maria Angels Moreno, sister of Joan Antoni, has obtained a well worth fith position in the final C4 500 W,  a result that places her in the crew for the path to Paris 2024.

The spanish recruiter and trainer of the Reial Club Nàutoc Port de Pollença, Kiko Martín, has declared that, after achieving two golds, four silver and two bronzes in the World Championship contested in Germany that “Spain has in these moments the best team of canoeing of the world”.

The success of these pupils in the recent finished World Championship of Duisburg confirms what was already known: “that our country has the potential of the moment and that the center of training is at Majorca, located at the Lago Esperanza (Alcudia), it is one of the world championships of canoeing”.

The flow of medals obtained by the Balearic Islands or “adopted” by Kiko Martín at Majorca has not been a surprise. The absolute World Championship has always been the crucial test, but the results achieved until the date of the category of Sub23 announced what in the end has happened. The guys and girls of Kiko have returned to the island with two golds, four silver and two fifths medals. An unqualified success that has also been crowned with several passports to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
