The Nao Victoria has arrived in Mallorca and will be moored in the port of Alcudiamar until the 5th of November, where it can be visited and the public can discover the history of the ship that 500 years ago made the first round-the-world voyage skippered by Juan Sebastián Elcano and Ferdinand Magellan.

Strolling around the deck, inspecting the hold and the common areas, visitors can get an idea of how the sailors who set sail for the unknown 500 years ago lived and spent three years on the high seas until completing the feat. Sleeping on deck, sailing with the rigging of yesteryear, without technology or comforts, storing their belongings, food and animals in the hold... these are some of the facts we know about that first circumnavigation, in which many things happened.
Stories that are now being spread around the world by the current crew of the Nao Victoria. Volunteers and sailors who enlist with the illusion of learning to sail on a historic ship and who, after months on board, getting to know half the world, may discover their true vocation.
The Nao Victoria Foundation offers a volunteer programme in which anyone can participate. For three to six months the new crew members will learn the basic tasks on board a ship, they will also discover how to sail with a pintle, as the ship does not have a rudder, they will get to know national and international ports, they will learn about Spanish maritime history and they will live a totally different experience.
After spending 10 days in the port of Alcudiamar, the Nao Victoria and her crew will continue their tour and set sail for another port, where they will tell the public the story of Magellan and Elcano's first round-the-world voyage.
