In Spain as a whole, 2,003 charter boats were registered between January and October, representing a growth of 7.5% compared to the first ten months of 2022.

The global number of registrations of recreational boats, adding the rentals intended for other use, Balearic Islands has experienced so far of the year a decrease of 1,7% within respect of the same time last year, standing at 1,023 registered units as of October 2023. According to the data in the report, the nautical charter in the Balearic Islands accounts for 58.4% of total registrations of recreational craft.

In this category, the archipelago's market share stands at 18.1%, with Barcelona in second place, with 10.6%, and Madrid, with 7.1%. In Spain as a whole, a total of 5,645 recreational boats were registered in 2023, 3.8% more than a year ago. By autonomous communities, the Balearic Islands is in second place, narrowly beaten by Catalonia, with 19.15%.

"The nautical market is slowing its sales, a behavior observed internationally. However, the performance of the rental market in our country reflects that the nautical continues to be incorporated into seasonal leisure plans. The trend that we have been observing throughout 2023 continues, which makes us foresee a closing of the year in very similar figures to those of 2022", says Jordi Carrasco, director general of ANEN.
