Along with Lafuente, the meeting was attended by the director general of Coasts and Coastline, Carlos Simarro; the director general of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercante; and the manager of Ports IB, Jaume Carbonell. PIMEEF was represented by Ramón van der Hoff, president of the Association of Nautical Industries and Services of Ibiza and Formentera, and Yolanda González, who showed great interest in this new stage of collaboration.
During the meeting, Lafuente stressed the importance of the active involvement of nautical companies in the identification and reporting of conduct that infringes the regulations, especially on issues such as illegal anchoring. This cooperation is essential for the Government to be able to act effectively and preserve the health of marine ecosystems.
One of the central themes of the meeting was to promote measures that balance sustainability with nautical activity. The need to establish effective mechanisms to combat unfair competition, promoting effective communication, was also underlined.
This meeting marks a turning point, setting a positive precedent for future interactions. With these new avenues of collaboration, both the administration and the private sector reaffirm their commitment to the protection of the environment and the sustainable development of nautical activity in the Balearic Islands.
