Parking, an issue of concern to companies in the marine industry because of the logistical difficulty that this new reform means for the development of their activities and services, is limited to the city side, leaving on the sea side only bus stops and loading and unloading areas at the entrances to the marinas.

The sector is therefore requesting a review of this part of the project and demands solutions for the future of an ambitious project; for this reason, the Balearic Marine Cluster is committed to working with the Port Authority to find a solution that responds to the needs of auxiliary companies and marinas.

The 'Nou Passeig Marítim' project, which consists of three phases and is currently responsible for the works along the coast of the city of Palma, seeks greater transversal permeability from the city towards the sea, giving continuity to the seafront of the city of Palma from the intersection with Av. Argentina to the Portopí roundabout.

Among the reforms planned and already underway are the doubling of the number of pedestrian crossings from 13 to 26, improving pedestrian safety; the reduction in the number of lanes from 3-4 to 2, thus doubling the space for pedestrians; and the reorganization of the uses of public space. In addition, a total remodelling of the pavements in both the road and pedestrian areas will be carried out, as well as the urbanization elements.

The project includes the renovation of street furniture, lighting and gardening equipment, together with improvements to the lighting, irrigation, drainage and traffic light networks, as well as adjustments to other services such as electricity, telecommunications, gas, sewerage and water supply.

The operation of the works has been divided into three phases that affect different sections of the current promenade: city area, median and sea area.

The first phase, which affects this first area, from the seafront kerb of the central median to the current pavement on the land side, has already been successfully completed; and the second phase, which affects the initial closure from the kerb of the new central median (land side) to the alignment, which will allow two lanes in the direction of the cathedral, has recently been started.

This project stands out for the collaborative relationship through open channels of communication with the different neighbours and owners of the commercial premises in the affected area, with whom this paving schedule has been agreed.
