The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) agreed, in the last meeting held yesterday, October 30, in Palma, to select the proposal from the company La Azulona 2023 for the granting of the concession for the management of mooring posts located at the North Shore of the port of Mahón. This was the most advantageous offer submitted in the public tender, aimed at improvements in infrastructure and sustainability.

The initiatives for the reduction of water and electricity consumption, as well as the installation of photovoltaic panels for green energy generation, are also highlighted. The offer also includes improvements in waste treatment, incorporating advanced systems for the management of bilge water and greywater, thus contributing to better environmental quality in the port of Mahón.
The offer also provides a significant reduction in rates for base vessels up to 8 meters in length. This measure will benefit the users of the port. The concession, which has a maximum term of 12 years, includes the management of a surface area of more than 57,600 square meters of water surface.
Regarding the annual fee to be contributed to the APB for the occupation of space, the company La Azulona 2023 has made an improvement of 1.1 million euros compared to the tender specifications. Therefore, the new concessionaire will contribute a total of 1.3 million euros annually to the port authority, plus the 4% of the business volume required in the tender documents.
