Once again, Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) is hosting a new edition of the North Sails Summer Series this summer. These consist of a total of nine social regattas for cruisers and B/Ones, held on Wednesdays from mid-June to mid-August.

These are short regattas, about an hour long, held in waters near the club, in the middle of the week to break up the summer weeks, followed by a beer together at Es Caló," explains Marc Patiño, representative of North Sails, the event's sponsor.
"Typically, the regattas consist of one upwind and one downwind leg, although occasionally we have done a small coastal race depending on the wind," Patiño adds, emphasizing the social aspect of the event. "It’s a great summer plan. We sail from six to seven in the evening and then invite everyone for a drink at the Es Caló beach bar, where they can enjoy the beach and sunset with views of the Bay of Palma."
This year, 22 boats are registered for this social competition, which maintains a general classification, although sailors can choose to participate in just some of the regattas. They can even rent some of the B/One class boats available at the CNA. "These are one-design boats that are halfway between dinghy sailing and cruising, similar to the Platu 25 or J80, with a jib, a square mainsail, and a fairly large gennaker, which perform very well downwind. These regattas are a great opportunity to try them out," he notes.
The North Sails Summer Series will conclude on August 14 with the corresponding trophy ceremony. The remaining regattas are scheduled for July 24, July 31, August 7, and August 14. Registrations are still open and can be done online at the website here.
