STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERThe Palma Aquarium Foundation has been creating and participating in different social and environmental projects since 2016. From February 2024 and on a monthly basis, the Palma Aquarium Foundation will organize "Echoes of the Mediterranean": a series of free lectures on the sea.
The first lecture will be held next Thursday, February 22nd at 18h in the Ocean Room of Palma Aquarium and will be about 'The nursehound: the small shark of the Mediterranean'. The purpose is to share with the public the project "Petits taurons - Acció Stellaris", the result of an alliance between different public and private entities and NGOs, through an informative talk that will show what it consists of, the objectives and the actions carried out to improve the conservation status of this little-known Mediterranean shark.
There will be 3 speakers: Borja Torres, Marine Biologist and technician of the Cabrera National Park; Margalida Vanrell, Veterinarian of the research laboratory IRFAP-LIMIA and Santiago García, Technician in charge of the project "Petits taurons - Acció Stellaris" of the Palma Aquarium Foundation.
The presentation will be moderated by Debora Morrison, Director of the Palma Aquarium Foundation and Marco Magazzu, Technician of the Palma Aquarium Foundation.
There will also be a children's activity for the little ones: Storytelling of the comic "El alitán, una historia sin espinas". An informative story about the project "Petits taurons" that immerses readers in the fascinating life of the nursehound, from its point of view, to raise awareness about the crucial importance of preserving marine biodiversity. While the adults attend the lecture, they will be able to enroll the little ones to enjoy this storyteller.
The following topics will be discussed in the next lectures: "Lungs of the Mediterranean", "Hippo-Dec Project" about the seahorse and "Sea turtles and climate change". Palma Aquarium and its Foundation hope that this type of action will help to achieve part of its objectives in conservation, education and research, as well as to bring together all those people linked to the sea.
