Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) has completed the renovation of the pontoons at the port of Sant Antoni de Portmany, in Ibiza. The project was officially handed over on Thursday, April 10, having been completed on schedule and before the start of the tourist season, with the aim of ensuring full operability of the port during the months of peak activity.

The initiative, led by PortsIB with a total investment of €879,986 (VAT included), involved the complete replacement of the existing floating infrastructures, which were in an advanced state of deterioration due to their age. The project included both the dismantling of the old pontoons and the manufacture and installation of fully equipped new modules.

The new pontoons feature state-of-the-art supply pedestals, upgraded water and electricity networks, cleats, ladders, and all necessary elements to ensure safety, comfort, and functionality for both users and professional operators.

With a six-month execution period, the project was carried out according to the planned timeline. The intervention addresses the need to modernize port infrastructure and strengthen safety in one of the most important ports for nautical and tourist activity on the island.

This initiative is part of the improvement and modernization plan for the port of Sant Antoni, which also includes other ongoing projects, such as the pavement renovation project along the Passeig de la Mar. With an investment of over one million euros, this second project aims to align the urban setting with the current aesthetic of the seafront, contributing to the comprehensive enhancement of the port environment.

Ports de les Illes Balears thus continues to make progress in its commitment to maintaining and improving the archipelago’s port infrastructure, investing in safer, more efficient spaces that are fully integrated with their surroundings.
