The Portuguese ‘Easy' maintains its lead in the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series

The third and final day of the second round of the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series could not take place due to lack of wind in the Bay of Palma. After an initial delay on land, the Race Committee decided to send the fleet to the race area around 10:30 am, when a southwest breeze of 8 knots had been recorded, predicting favorable conditions for competition.

However, after several hours of waiting, the wind dropped again and the conditions were not sufficient to guarantee the development of the races. Finally, the Committee decided to suspend the day, closing the second round without changes in the general classification.

The Portuguese "Easy", skippered by Michael Zankel and representing the Clube Naval de Cascais, leads with 23 points thanks to its consistency throughout the six races contested. It is followed by "Basic Logic", from Werner Deuring (Austria), with 27 points, while the German "Goldkante", led by Tanja Jacobsohn, is in third position with 41 points.

The best-ranked among the Spanish boats is the "No Name Dragon", by Javier Chacártegui, sailing under the flag of Club Nàutic s’Arenal. It currently holds the fourth place, tied at 41 points with "Goldkante", after recording its best partial with a second place in the first race of the series.

The competition, organized by the Puerto Portals Regatta Club, will continue with the third round from January 19 to 21, 2025, and will conclude with the fourth round, which will be held from February 22 to 24.

With a fleet of 21 boats representing seven countries, the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series is established as one of the most prominent events of the Dragon class at the national level.
