The Real Club de Regatas de Alicante will open the first of the two weekends of Olympic Week 2024 with the celebration from February the 8th to the 11th of the Spanish Championship of the ILCA 7 class in which a total of 72 sailors of five nationalities from Spain, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain and Poland will participate.

Among the Spanish fleet, which is the one that opts for the title of champion of Spain, part of the powerful Balearic fleet composed of 13 sailors from Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, Real Club Náutico de Palma, Club Náutico de Ibiza, Club Nàutic Ciutadella and Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, with Pep Cazador (CN S'Arenal), runner-up and winner of the Spanish Cup in the year 2022 at the head; joined by David Ponseti (CN Ciutadella), ILCA 6 Spanish champion in 2021 and 2022 and Carlos Roselló (CN Ibiza), third in 2018 and 2022.
The top three of the national ranking of 2023, the pre-Olympic Joaquín Blanco, Joel Rodríguez -last champion of Spain- and Leo Barreto have not been able to reach the appointment, after having finished a few days ago the World Championship in Adelaide (Australia).
Those who will be in Alicante are the fourth and fifth in last year's ranking, the Majorcan Mario Plomer (CV Port d'Andratx) and the Alicante Gonzalo Suarez (CN Altea), who was second in the last Spanish Cup held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The ILCA 7 will be the first of the two Spanish Championships to be organized by the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante in 2024, the other will be the Optimist from March the 25th to the 30th.
