The program of the CN Ibiza ‘A Sea of Possibilities’ opens inscriptions for the 2024 edition

Only a year to celebrate its centenary, the Club Náutico Ibiza puts out a new disposition for all the people at Ibiza the 21st edition of ‘A Sea of Possibilities’, a social, sporty and therapeutic program that is pioneer in Spain that assists each season more than 300 people with functional diversity, reduced mobility or in risk of exclusion.

Pedro Cárceles, director of the program, emphasizes his disbelief at the threat that the program may disappear in the immediate future: "We are working, fighting and defending a Social Marina, with no privileges other than those of equality, with reasonable mooring offers, with facilities for nautical practices, non-profit and with all other social actions that provide, as far as possible, universal access to contact with the sea".

Cárceles adds that "we are talking about Club Náutico Ibiza, an institution that has been adapting and building identity for 99 years. And that today announces the beginning of the third decade of its program 'A Sea of Possibilities'".

Despite this tortuous context, Club Náutico Ibiza starts the season of its social program 2024 and opens the registration deadlines for:

-Projects of educational plans of City Councils and centers (young people with school failure, of insertion or reception centers, of training plans such as alter or ‘pise’, etc).

- 12 assistance centers, residences, hospitals, day centers, occupational workshops, centers for the protection of minors, etc.

-16 associations (more than last year) dedicated to assisting people with reduced mobility, cognitive or mental disorders, motor or physical disorders, at risk of social exclusion, etc.

-Gent Gran Program. Dedicated to mitigate the risk of loneliness of the elderly, as it allows them or their caregivers to hire the services of the program to enjoy the sea with healthy activities and according to their situation, whatever their degree of dependence, as the program team is prepared to facilitate them. This program is subsidized by the Consell Insular.

-Sailing activities on the Saga boat for social assistance groups.

There will be more than 120 days, with more than two hundred activities prepared, for more than a hundred people from all over the island who will have access to the sea and to therapeutic practices, between 2 and 16 sessions each.

As the program director points out: "These are not ideas or good intentions. This is the annual result of a real and contrasted work with more than two hundred reports from independent professionals that endorse it; this is a social work". In addition, this year the creation of an adapted regatta team will be implemented and access to users will be facilitated by providing transportation support.

The registration period is also open until April the 20th for twelve people who want to live this experience as part of the team of 'A sea of possibilities', on a voluntary and/or professional basis. In this regard, Cárceles explains that "the training and social service experience is very adaptable and is accompanied by very comforting experiences of a great vital force if there is within you the desire to work for a human cause".
