There will be a total of 14 superyachts participating which vary between 80 and 155 feet in length, which means that the event is more secure. The fleet was found many days ago at the shipyards of STP Palma, place of base and concentration of the exit for the Ibiza JoySail.

The route between Palma and Ibiza, is of 50 nautical miles, it will once again open the competition in search of the record for the crossing between the two bays of the Balearic archipelago. This is the prologue race of the Ibiza JoySail.

They will leave from Cala Figuera at the Bay of Palma and the arrival will be located at the island of Tagomago at Ibiza.

The “Moat”, of the argentinian shipowner Juan Ball and sponsored by Guillermo Parada, is the first record holder for the crossing between Palma and Ibiza. The Swan 155 was the fastest boat in the past edition with a time of 7 hours, 5 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the 50 nautical miles of this route. The goal is, if the weather conditions allow, to overcome the record of last year.

As part of the Ibiza JoySail series of races, the long race will have its own prize, the Mallorca-Ibiza Perpetual Trophy, which will be awarded to the boats that have beaten a record time in their class between the lighthouses of Punta Cala Figuera in Mallorca and the island of Tagomago in Ibiza.

In this edition of the Ibiza JoySail the fleet will be divided into four categories: In World Cruising we find three boats: Aurelius, Scorpion of London and Alfarife Cien. In Performance, the most numerous with five units are All Smoke, Aragon, Jasi, Kikoko and Moat. In Performance Cruising, there are four boats, the Dark Horse, Prevail, Y Not and Shambho.

And in the invited J Class, two boats are competing, the Svea and the Topaz, which will not be doing the Palma-Ibiza crossing, and on Wednesday the 27th will be doing a coastal course in Ibizan waters.

On arrival at Marina Ibiza, the fleet will have a welcome reception, as it has been the case in the previous two editions, and at the end of each day the participants will be able to enjoy themed nights in true Ibizan style.

From Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th of September the races will take place from 12h noon in the waters off the coasts of Ibiza and Formentera. The Ibiza JoySail offers a perfect combination for these exclusive boats, with an offshore crossing and different coastal courses.

The prize-giving ceremony will be held on Saturday 30th of September in Marina Ibiza, with trophies for the top three in each class and the special Spirit of Swan, Best Qualified Yacht, Marine Results Trophy, Monzó Yacht Painting Trophy and Southerwind.
